South Lanarkshire Council drives efficiencies with case management upgrade from Civica
South Lanarkshire Council’s Legal Services has awarded Civica, a market leader in specialist systems and business process services that help organisations around the world to transform the way they work, a contract to improve case management, time recording and court bundling using a Civica Legal case management software platform.
South Lanarkshire is one of many Scottish councils using Civica Legal. In terms of population it is the fifth largest council in Scotland by area and has over 15,000 employees. It covers an area 1,772 square kilometres in central and southern Scotland, almost 80 percent of which is agricultural. The council’s Legal Services are continually seeking efficiencies in order to maintain and improve services as well as performance management and reporting. The Legal Services team had identified a business need for a modern case management recording system to meet the high service demands involved in processing over 200 cases per month in the core legal function.
The legal department’s new streamlined processes will provide staff with more efficient and accurate access to specific case data. Civica Legal enables the legal teams to deliver more productive case management, increase time recording and performance management as well as delivering a better level of customer focused services across the entire authority.
Bill Loughrey, managing director, local government, Civica, commented: “It’s become clear that pressure to cut costs and lower overheads are here for the duration. Civica’s work with South Lanarkshire to streamline processes and administration is an example of how legal departments can achieve cost reductions without compromising on service levels”.
