Civica secures fleet management system for the London Ambulance Service
Civica, is delivering its award-winning Tranman software for the London Ambulance Service after outperforming the competition in a formal tender. The London Ambulance Service (LAS) is the busiest NHS emergency ambulance service in the UK, employing over 4,500 staff working across a wide range of roles in 70 ambulance stations.
With 12 workshops maintaining a fleet of 1,000 vehicles including front line ambulances, specialist care vehicles, mobile incident control centres, delivery vehicles, management cars and pool vehicles, it was important for LAS to implement a system that had the capabilities demanded by a fleet of its size and diversity.
The principal aim of introducing Tranman for the London Ambulance Service was to improve the maintenance visibility of its vehicles. LAS will also run the accident management application and give its finance department full access to fleet costs.
Using fleet, stores, maintenance, accident repairs, fuel and workshop capabilities, London Ambulance Service is looking to roll out the system to its workshops and to be fully live by the end of July 2010.
Drawing on a 25-year history of providing fleet software solutions, Civica works closely with its customers to recommend and implement change based on individually tailored business management solutions. Helping to improve the efficiency of running a fleet operation, the Tranman system has the capability to manage vehicles, drivers, accidents, maintenance, hire and costs of the client’s fleet, each with a different level of functionality to suit fleet types, sizes and budgets.
Steven Melhuish, Corporate Fleet Manager, said, “The implementation of Tranman has gone very smoothly with good direction, training and informed help on bespoke alterations. Questions from the London Ambulance Service departments involved in the project are dealt with promptly and sensitively by Civica. This comprehensive support solution is meeting the requirements of the LAS in delivering Tranman to its Fleet and Workshop operation.”
Tranman has a proven track record for enabling fleet managers to achieve cost and utilisation benefits through improved management information and analysis. The benefits include reduced fleet and whole life operating costs, improved risk management, better control over fuel usage, increased workshop productivity, minimised vehicle downtime and reduced stock holding.
