Civica acquires RM Asia Pacific

Civica, a market leader in specialist IT systems and business process services, has announced that Civica Pty Ltd, the company’s wholly owned subsidiary, has acquired RM Asia-Pacific Pty Ltd (“RM Asia-Pacific”) from RM plc.

Based in Perth, with offices in Sydney and Melbourne, RM Asia-Pacific is one of the region's major providers of school and learning management systems, classroom technology and educational software. It delivers the leading schools management information system in Australia and supplies a customer base of approximately 4,000 schools in the region.

The acquisition will add to Civica’s substantial presence in Australia and New Zealand, where the company is a market leader in software, managed services and specialist outsourcing for the public sector. The Group already employs more than 660 people in the region, which contributed revenues of more than £46 million in the year to September 2010. Whilst RM Asia-Pacific is well established, as part of Civica it will benefit from the Group’s existing scale of operations which includes supplying more than 300 local authorities.

Under the agreement Civica will take ownership of the Maze product set and continue as sole distributor in Australia and New Zealand for other RM products. The acquisition thereby adds a comprehensive portfolio of education products and expertise to Civica’s international business, extending the Group’s presence and capability in the region at a time when ICT is driving genuine transformation in the delivery and accessibility of education.

Simon Downing, Civica chief executive, said, “I am delighted to welcome RM Asia-Pacific to the Civica Group. We have achieved good growth in the education sector and our existing market position and capability in the region provides a strong foundation to continue that momentum.”
