Financial Transparency
The government has pledged greater transparency across the public sector through publishing data to strengthen accountability to citizens, it has committed to publishing certain information on salaries, spending over £500, and contracts. This is an opportunity for local public service providers along with the people and businesses that they serve, to make better use of data and information as an asset to add value to public services.
However, there is a high overhead in extracting, redacting, and publishing the files in the correct format. Therefore Civica has, in consultation with the user base, produced a new web-based module that will allow users to extract information from not only the Creditors Ledger, but also the General Ledger, to bring the full picture of the organisation's spending to the public domain. The module provides, through a new report master, the means of running multiple extracts of information which are appended to a new internal table within the Civica Financials database.
Each extract has the facility to specify powerful multiple selection criteria in order to obtain the required data. A form within Web Channel provides web access to the data and gives point and click functionality to auto or manually redact / exclude information ready for the fully automated production of csv and pdf output for publication.
