Spydus

Spydus is a web-centric, automated information management solution for academic, public, government and corporate libraries.

The software automates the full range of library functions including circulation, cataloguing, public access and acquisitions, inter-library loans, stock rotation and home lending, as well as facilitating bookings.

Used by more than 1,500 libraries world-wide, Spydus software manages bibliographic data and caters for multimedia collections, community information and historical archives.

OPAC

With its powerful, award-winning search and retrieval engine, Spydus OPAC facilitates quick and easy access to library catalogues, electronic resources and detailed patron information via a web browser.

Fully configurable, Spydus OPAC gives libraries the flexibility to determine access points, display fields, page displays and order. In addition to a wide range of features, it incorporates advanced search features including keyword, browsing, exact match, truncation, boolean operators, as well as limiting and sorting.

RFID

Suitable for all libraries, large and small, regional and metropolitan, Spydus RFID integrates seamlessly with Spydus, alleviating the requirement for additional third party solutions and giving you the convenience and cost effectiveness of a familiar solution from a single supplier. Quick to implement and easy to use, it includes patron self service, enhanced security, automated returns and efficient inventory management.

Spydus RFIDs ultra high frequency (UHF) tag delivers maximum read range and speed so libraries can undertake a virtually ‘hands free’ stock take and have the capacity for multiple stack check-out to further enhance service levels.

Circulation

The circulation desk is the main point of customer contact for any library. Spydus Circulation gives staff complete access to each patrons records via a powerful, user friendly interface. Quick and easy to use, it allows staff to handle multiple and complex enquiries from a single service point, saving time, effort and ultimately increasing customer satisfaction.

Cataloguing

Spydus Cataloguing facilitates the storage and creation of clean catalogue records, whilst providing easy path access and allowing the use of multiple language pathways.

Acquisitions

Spydus Acquisitions helps libraries to effectively manage the purchasing process. From placing orders and invoicing, to check-ins, fund management and reporting, its extensive electronic ordering system allows staff to communicate with suppliers quickly, effectively and conveniently.

Self-Service

Spydus Self Service integrates with Civica's LMS (Library Management Solution), Spydus to automate repetitive, labour intensive tasks such as checkout so librarians can take a proactive and personalised approach to customer service. Librarians also benefit from improved efficiency, shorter queues and enhanced item security. In contrast, customers benefit from speed and privacy at checkout.

Serials

Function key and icon driven, with advanced routing capability, Spydus Serials helps libraries to comprehensively manage serials and includes check-in, routing, claiming and renewal functionality. Its multi-document interface in a familiar Microsoft Windows environment offers seamless database access via Spydus Staff Web Enquiry and automatic aggregation of issues.
 

Not only does Spydus Serials have the ability to handle all frequencies, but users can browse issues or search for specific issues, both of which can be easily catalogued and linked to the parent title. A serial title display in 'staff enquiry' links all issues, orders and loans. Includes SISAC support and a summary display of holdings in the OPAC.
